You can have fun with personalized credit card design. Credit cards are just about spending money right? Just like clothing is just about keeping you warm. And cell phones are just about talking to people.
Wrong.
Those of us living in the information age want our conveniences and we want them to be cute too! In 2014 the Amazon Fire phone came under a bit of scrutiny because it didn’t have the ability to personalize the wallpaper. According to some of the Mayday help desk folks at Amazon, it was one of the most common complaints that they heard.
The truth is that we want things that work well, are reasonably priced, and make us look or feel good. In the 1990s credit card companies tried putting their customer’s faces on their credit cards as a way to prevent fraudulent use. But today, pictures are more often used to make card usage a bit more fun as we choose palm trees, beach vistas, snow capped mountains, our children’s smiling faces and more to decorate our cards. But is it a good idea?
Sure, why not? You can easily design a credit card online. Do it.
There is no reason not to enjoy a personalized credit card design. In fact, all major credit cards today, and many smaller ones, allow you to design your credit card online or at least have some options for a personalized credit card picture or design. Even Lowes the home store lets you choose a picture for the card. Discover gives you a variety of vistas to choose from. Many cards, like Capital One, give you the option of choosing from one of a dozen of their designs or uploading your own photo to go on the card.
And the pretty cards are not limited to new customers. Go to the website of your bank and look around – you are bound to find an area to order a new personalized card. Some companies, like Capital One, limit how often you can get a new card just for decorative purposes, so choose wisely and enjoy.
When you personalize your card you get to express your personality. Just be careful. Avoid using pictures that can identify too much. You don’t want to show your children’s names or anything that could help a dishonest person to cause trouble for you. But as long as you choose fun, tasteful pictures that don’t reveal too much you should have fun with it – it usually costs nothing and most anything that brings a smile to your day is a good thing.
Of course, you can’t choose your credit card by personalized credit card design options alone. Be sure to look at the APR, annual fee, other perks such as car rental insurance, warranty expansion, frequent flyer miles and more before you choose what’s in your wallet. And always read the fine print that comes with your credit card. Yes, we know it is boring. But spending just fifteen minutes reading through that little black and white boring paper could safe you untold headache later.
